Bass by canoe

To help maintain the secrecy of my surprise birthday party,  a friend invited me to fish with him at a small local lake – near Lake Waseosa. Accessible by canoe only, we paddled around the shallow lake and hooked in to several nice largemouth bass. The fish were within striking distance of dock edges and weed pockets.

livetarget_smeltThe fish ravaged my LiveTarget Rainbow Smelt (video below). If you are looking at new crank or jerk bait option for summer bass – consider buying this one.

The fish seemed to be active until the sun started to set. It’s amazing how the fishing can turn ‘cold’ at the same time. I have often wondered what environmental factors can trigger or disengage  fish activity.

It’s something I will have to google over some birthday cake.
