The lake is still classified – but I have my people on it. Kevin caught this sweet 7.36 lb speckled trout in a ‘not too far from Huntsville’ lake. Awesome catch Kevin!
Nice fish Kevin. Looks like it could be an F1 splake though. It has the telltale sub terminal mouth of the lake char and lacks the definite white, black leading edge on the pectoral fins of the brook char. Also i dont see any vermiculations along the dorsal area although the angle of the pic doesnt help. Is there lakers in the lake or was there ever brookies or splake stocked in the lake?
And yes i am jealous, regardless of what it is !lol
Wow! be still my beating Heart!!!!!!…my biggest trout was 4 3/4 lbs. and 22′ long but this gorgeous fish beats that by a mile…..how did you land it , on a rod or by hand??????n Was it released or kept as a trophy????? There is no thrill that can compare when you see that wall of gorgeous spots below the hole of the ice, and the rush as the trout peels off feet of line from your fingers when it tries to avoid coming up through that hole. The coloration of this amazing fish almost matches the beautiful little Aurora trout from out West. I hope this honey hole where this fish came from stays a secret….we must treasurer these fantastic fish from poachers or irresponsible fishermen who keep everything…..
That is a very impressive trout and one that would make anyone smile. I do have to agree with Bill Anderson, it is best shared with friends. I also share my experiences on a blog so remember those memories are best enjoyed when there’s more than one.
there you have it! thanks Kyle.
No splake in or near that lake its a natural fish just really dark.
J – now that you point those items out…I’ll check with Kev when I see him. thanks for your visit!

True enough Susan. It is a nice fish! Don’t knock your 4 3/4 lb trout. That would be just as sweet to catch. Thanks for your visit!
