They kill off surplus populations of mainly cats and dogs but sometimes other pets too. Humane societies perform the same function in society as deer and bear hunters (of whom we need more) except that deer and bears have a much better than even chance to escape from hunters (at least 90%) because they learn or should learn from an early age to mistrust and avoid the human race as they have done since time immemorial wheras captive dogs ands cat are held fast in a cages before being killed. Surplus pets are both betrayed and doomed because they are taught to trust the human race from birth and then they are killed under concentration camp conditions. Worrying about the fact that game animals are killed before being cut up into steaks is a tempest in a tea pot. For those of us who eat meat, we ought to be fully aware of where, when, and how our meat is butchered. Humans have been meat eaters for a long time! Many Muskokans hunt game. It is a tradition.
