A friend was able to talk to the local Ontario MNR Fish Biologist here in Muskoka. They were able to provide an electronic version of the 2008 Fishing Stocking List for the Bracebridge and Huntsville areas. Included with the listing was the following letter:

Dear angler,
We have just finished our fish stocking for the year, and have updated the stocking list. We stocked a number of lakes with rainbow trout this fall, after missing two years due to an interruption in the supply from the provincial hatchery system. The fish are Ganaraska River strain and were reared at the North Bay and White Lake Fish Culture Stations. We expect to get back onto our regular cycle of rainbow stocking.
All of the brook trout stocked in 2008 were Dickson Lake strain. Dickson Lake is a lake in Algonquin Park from which eggs have been collected to create a new brood stock for use in the southern region. In 2006, we did a trial in which we stocked two lakes, each with the same number of the Dickson strain and our traditionally-used Hills Lake strain. We netted these lakes in the fall and found that the Dickson Lake fish has a greater survival rate (graph on right). They were more variable in their growth though – some would need part of another growing season to reach a respectable size. I am very interested in getting reports from anglers on how successful they are with the new strain.
Angler reports are the main way I get information on the success of our stocking program. The large number of lakes involved makes it impossible to do detailed monitoring of every lake. This is especially true for the small, remote access lakes. Please take the time to complete a volunteer report or even just e-mail me.
This years’ fin clip was the adipose fin – the small fleshy fin on the back between the main dorsal fin and the tail. Be sure to check this fin if you are looking for fin clips. We mark fish in order to monitor lakes for naturally reproduced fish and to determine the age of fish.

Thanks Kevin. I will be sure to pass this on to the MNR. Sounds like I need to visit the Oxbow soon!
Hi Stephen,
Just a quick note to let you know how we did in Upper Oxbow. 24 fish caught,23 with adipose clip one with RP clip(weighed 3lbs 14oz.) The other fish were about 14-15 inches. We did not weigh them. We also quickley released 9 fish. The sizes did vary a little buut only by a couple of inches. All fish were caught on artificial baits. Hope this helps. Is there anything else I can help you with?
Cheers
Kevin
PS.
I know of a couple of lakes where I have caught fish over 6 lbs, do you have any you would mind telling me about? I am a speck fisherman and know how to keep my mouth shut. I also release alot of the fish I catch.
