New Spring: Same Fall Buck
You may remember last fall that I mentioned I came to face with a monster buck I tried to hunt with my bow. I just passed him at the camp this afternoon and his rack is starting to look…well…huge! (click on the photos for a bigger view)
The photo below is what he looked like in the fall of 2007:

Bucks tend to lose the velvet on their antlers late August to early September. This is caused by an increase in testoserone levels and development in their ‘nether’ region and accessory glands (source: NSRL website).





You bet! Except, he has the ability to know when my bow is with me or not.
Boy, now that’s enough to get a guy ready for bow season! He’s gonna be a dandy!
