A Father Moment
It’s funny when those “You’re a father now” moments take place. Shortly after we brought our daughter home from the hospital, I was awakened to the subtle movements of some thing on my face. In that moment of partial consciousness and sleep deprivation I reached up to move the cause of the annoyance. The ‘awake’ part of my brain assumed it was my wife’s hand finding a new place to rest while she slept.
I was pleasantly surprised to find it was something that I was not accustomed to seeing. Lara’s feet (click on photo) were using my forehead as an ‘excersiser’ while she was feeding.
At that moment, I realized that I was prepared to be anything she needed me to be. If my forehead needed to be Gold’s Gym for 15 minutes – no problem!
If she needs me to change her diaper even though it takes 15 minutes for me to do it – no problem!
If I need to put my dream of a plasma TV on hold to budget for a new crib – no problem!
If I need to stay at home and miss the first day fishing after ‘ice-out’ because her mom needs a break . . .
…
No problem!
Father moments. Enjoy them while we can.

Love the pic of the kissable little feet! Once they start walking, you don’t do that anymore…
Congrats to you and your wife!!
At least she’s too small to really kick hard yet.
Sounds like you’re settling in to Fatherhood well. Congratulations.
Only 7 more months and I will get to experience all of those no-problems. I can’t wait either. Being a Father is going to be awesome.
Great post!
