Its Poaching, NOT Hunting.
I came across a sad letter of a ticked-off individual who says hunters dumped deer carcasses to rot not far from her house. It is quite clear that the letter writer is not ‘big’ on hunting and this occurrence would not help.
It ticks me off! (Not the letter itself but the situation described in the letter)
If I could respond to the person that wrote the letter I would remind her that leaving and wasting game animals to rot (after killing them) is illegal. Call the police and the DNR.
This is the work of Poachers.
It is to these idiots you need to address your anger.
Not hunters. Please do not call the two the same.
I am sorry for the impression that was left upon you and your dog’s eyesore.

With something like hunting, we’re out in the wilderness so no one sees what happens on a day-to-day basis. As you mention, it the bad stuff that sticks out like a sore thumb that leads thumb. All the more reason for us to try to be a positive light through our writing, volunteering, etc.
I have to agree. It is maddening when people who don’t follow the rules or ethics of hunting get called hunters anyway and their actions reflect on the real hunters. I guess the only way to combat this is to educate as many people as possible regarding what a real hunter is and what a real hunter does.
It always happens that way. Some outrageous act that is associated with hunting becomes headlines news and automatically the persons involved are called “hunters” even though that is so far from the truth.
I feel your pain and that letter ticks me off just like it did to you!
