Snow, Cold, and a Sneaky Buck

It’s day 3 of our hunt and we are all slightly discouraged. Dad likes to call it a ‘lull’ in the hunt.

We were hoping the snow and cold would get the deer moving but our only real sightings were 3 moose. The deer are not reacting as anticipated during our drives. Its almost like they have re-written their playbook. There is a bunch of deer sign.

It is so odd that our sightings are down.

There was a small glimmer of hope, this evening, when one of our guys spooked a big buck. It did not move far. Howie let the sound of the buck fade off without pushing it. We are currently planning how to get a ‘crack’ at this buck tomorrow.

We are also adapting our normal deer push tactics to encompass smaller areas. The ORF’s think this will help bring us ‘in-line’ with the changes the deer have made in their tactics.

Stay tuned!

  1. I hope your change in tactics will counter the deer’s change in tactics and you’ll see some big bucks.

I’ll stay tuned for tomorrow ’s update.
