Invading Species’ Newest Predator

snake_eating_gobyInvasive species may have a new enemy to contend with in Ontario Lakes. An angler fishing in the Little Bluf Conservation Area (south of Picton, ON) snapped a photo of a watersnake chomping back a goby! Visit his website for the whole story and a larger photo. Gobies are one of the invasive species impacting Ontario fishing opportunities. What are some others?

VHSThe species causing concern right now are the goby, the rusty crayfish, zebra mussels, sea lamprey, ruffe, and lately much attention has been on VHS. Fishing and hunting is more about the people you are in the outdoors with, then the fish or game you catch. This is a outdoor truth I learned from fishing and hunting with my father and grandfather at an early age. Whether, I am fishing the back country of a Algonquin Park or the lakes and rivers of my hometown Huntsville, ON the story behind every fish and game animal is better shared with friends. Blogging is the way in which I can share the truths, the teachable moments, and the incredible memories of every outdoors trip. Bill also blogs with the World Fishing Network - http://www.wfn.tv/blog/Bill/
