So Many Fish, So Little Time

So Many Fishing So Little TimeA great gift idea for father’s day! It is a great ‘little’ book with a wealth of information from fly fishing locations around the world. I use the word little in jest because the opposite is quite true.

The author, Mark D. Williams, has travelled around the world and has written this book like a stream-side journal that shares with the reader the little details that matter while flyfishing in a particular area. For example:

“Get ready to nymph with bead heads and San Juan Worms and mayfly nymphs. Be ready to employ streamers in high water, deep pools, cut-banks…you’ll be sightcasting tiny Tricos and smaller mayflies to rising trout. I use my typical dry fly on top, nymph on the bottom dropper rig…” Excerpt taken from a section discussing an area on the Bow River, Alberta.

With 860 pages, this book covers fishing areas across the US States, Canada, Mexico, Caribbean, Central America, South America, Europe, Asia, and the South Pacific. Each section and ‘journal’ write up contain website links, guide contacts, Lodge contacts, and tackle shops that will help you plan your next trip. I am planning a trip to Maine in the coming months. The book is very practical because I was able to look-up the areas in Maine the author has fished and, with the information provided, I was able to plan my route, hotel stays, and fishing stops along the way.

Don’t tell my wife…

The author shares the purpose behind this book in the following statement,

“I was determined to write a book about fishing dreams…a sit-on-the-pot kind of book that inspires you to get off your duff and make plans…or you can read it and wish. Can you think of a better fishing wish list than this?”

I am extremely envious of, Mr. Williams, and the places he has fished to write this book. I have to admit I have kept it near to my ‘thinking places’ around the house. I often read about his adventures while enjoying the view from my front porch. For a short moment my front porch overlooks some stream-side waterfront where trout break the babbling stream surface.

For a brief moment all is as it should be…

NOTE: I do not make money from the anyone clicking through, so do not let that stop you. Nor, was I paid for this review. The publisher has sent an evaluation copy of the book and I have agreed to write about it on my blog. I appreciate the time they took to do this. If you have a fishing or hunting product that you would like me to discuss on my blog, please contact me via the link on the top of my blog.

Thanks for the questions and interest and kind words about the book. I hope the answers were what you were looking for. Hope you had a good summer fishing — I stayed at my cabin in Durango Colo all summer and it rained more than ever before and the streams flowed high and spate. Great site, keep up the great work.
