Kenora Don’t Feed Deer:Wolves

WolfA British newspaper (of all places) report that the people of Kenora have been asked to stop feeding deer as they are ‘luring’ wolves closer to town. The overseas paper reports,

Wolves are normally very shy, but lured by the prospect of fattened deer meat they have regularly been spotted inside the city limits of Kenora in Ontario.

I checked for information from a Canadian paper and the story is confirmed here. If you get a chance to visit the report from the British paper they have a photo of a deer for the article, but NOT the kind of deer you would find in Kenora. I am not sure what kind of deer that is. Any ideas?

As far as feeding deer, I am still undecided. If the above is really an issue than this is one danger I would have never considered. Both articles mention that feeding deer is not needed with such a mild winter. This make sense to me. Deer survived long before human hand outs. The deer also make easy targets for cars moving through the areas where they are fed. Kind hearted feeders may be indirectly killing the deer they feed because of this.

Just my opinion. It does not mean I am right.
