2 boats:The Same View

evinrude.jpg I was going through some flickr pictures the other day and came across a great photo of a view from a canoe. The picture brought back some memories on what times were like before, The Lowe (dad’s motor boat) entered the picture. I’ll bet anyone that has ever fished from a canoe for longer than an hour will appreciate what I am about to say,

The view from a canoe can look just as good (if not better than) a view from the leather covered, swivel chair behind a trolling motor.

For those who understand pictures better than words:

This view is nice viewfromcanoe.jpg ,but so is this View From Behind The Troller.

Don’t get me wrong. I can understand the romance and ‘pureness’ of moving along your favorite waterway from the belly of your canoe. I have been there and loved it. Dad has taken me on some incredible Algonquin adventures. Now, I can only enjoy a canoe until the first back spasm and knee cramps hit. This usually happens within moments of trying to tie the canoe down to the roof of the truck.

No. I’ll take the comfort of the Lowe anytime over the lure of the canoe. So to my brothers in the floating fiberglass or kevlar shard, I salute you. May your knee cramps be short lived and your paddles quick when the storm over head looms because,

the view from here lowe_inside.jpg ,

is better than the view from here storm_out.jpg.  Am I alone out there on this?
