I just realized the other day that I had not posted the photos from this year’s deer hunting success with the Rip N’ Tear Guys. The two deer we got were far from huge (as you will be able to tell from the photos), but the roasts have been fantastic.
The doe that we got (shot by “Howie”) casted some serious doubt on the thinking that deer have have super acute hearing and smell. We had just wrapped up an early morning drive and started walking up a logging road toward a point where we meet the other hunters along the way. The last person we ‘radioed’ to come out of the bush to meet us was Howie. After he acknowledged us on the radio we heard a volley of about 5 shots. The radio cackled to life and an excited Howie said,
“You guys may want to come to me”
The doe had been standing on a road listening to everyone’s conversation, within site of Howie (~50yds), with the wind in her face. Regardless, it was a good day.
Dad shot a little “racked” buck (more spike than rack) after it came out of some evergreens following a doe. That was shortly after dad did some grunting with his deer call. It will never make Big Buck Zone but it helped make a successful hunt even better.
Kev and Kyle demonstrated their targeting ability with a muzzle loader and some pumpkins after a slow afternoon ‘bunk-watch’. I
have never seen a muzzle loader in action. I have a feeling I will have to add one to my “It Would Be Nice List”.

Go ahead and post it Rex. It may make dad ‘feel’ better. Hehe.
I think I will post “Dads’ pic.
I sense in your commentary some derision regarding the mass of the deer I “harvested”. I’m certain it was larger than the one you took……………..oh that’s right, you did’nt get one this year did you?
Have a nice day in Muskoka’s outdoors!!!!!!
