There are things about being part of a hunt/fish camp that only those of us who are part of one will understand. I brainstormed during the down times of our hunt this past week and wrote some down.
1. Camps are the only place where dishes, table cleaning, wood hauling are considered a fun experience.
2. “Coming home” can also mean arriving to the leaky ‘roofed’, dust collecting, rodent compromised, lumpy ‘matressed’ cabin by the lake.
3. The trail to the outhouse can sometimes be as much fun as the seat in the outhouse.
4. Eating chili with your buddies is considered a necessary risk.
5. Seeing game and catching fish is secondary to the time spent with friends.
6. “No Signal Detected” on your cellphone means your are getting close to camp.
7. One of the hardest choices you need to make is how long you should nap.
8. The path to the outhouse is long for a reason.
9. The feeling you get when you see the lights of the cabin at the end of dark walk or cold boat ride…priceless!
10. A sportsmen is always just one purchase away from being happy (this one by Dad and Jonathan).
11. Keep your friends close. Keep the friend that nets your fish closer.
