Gun Registry Rant.

rifle1.jpg I don’t get it! I was watching a newscast the other night that was boasting about the effectiveness of the gun registry in Canada. It stressed how more than ever (since the recent Montreal shootings) this system needs to be expanded and implemented to stop gun crime. The only fatal flaw in this overused arguement is that,

CRIMINALS WILL NOT REGISTER THEIR FIREARMS anymore than Terrorists will register their explosives because someone started an explosive registry to stop suicide bombings.

So, now with our current registry the police have a list of all the law abiding citizens who have firearms. This is apparently useful (according to the interviewer). The registry did not stop the shootings in Montreal. The gun used was registered. To be fair, no system or lack of system would.

The billions of dollars wasted in this registry could have gone to police forces or social initiatives for the public impacted by gun violence. This will make a difference to the criminal.

Sure, the next step could be to take guns away from citizens. This makes the lawful public unsafe becuase this initiative favors the criminals who will not turn in their guns. Leaving my best option for a home invasion a 9-1-1 dial a prayer call.

Just my opinion.
