The Town of Huntsville Council have requested the MNR to consider bringing back the bear hunt to Ontario.
The Huntsville Forester reports that a resoultion was passed in Council to share their concerns with the MNR.
In light of an increasingly bold black bear population in Huntsville, council is urging the Honourable David Ramsay, Minister of Natural Resources, to reinstate the spring bear hunt.
I think the emotion of the anti-bear hunting smoke-screen (campaign) from the ‘big city’ has worn thin and reality has hit the small towns in Ontario. Bear Populations were never in danger becuase of the hunt and now the populations have exploded. I had 3 bear visits to our house last spring.
I applaud the Town’s bold move.
