The Globe and Mail reports some interesting scientific findings on the impact that global warming has on poison ivy. It is not good!A portion of the article states,
“The fertilization effect of rising CO2 on poison ivy … and the shift toward a more allergenic form of urushiol have important implications for the future health of both humans and forests,” the study concludes.
Apparently our climates current warming trend will cause poison ivy to become more “itchy” and will allow poison ivy to spread more quickly on our forest floors.
Leave the waxy, 3-leafed, plant alone and watch where you put your tree stand or first cast this year.
