Integrity of Cdn. Gun Registry Flawed?!

handgun.jpeg Many thanks to the OFAH who interviewed the former webmaster of the the Canadian Gun Registry. During that interview the webmaster admitted the security of the registry’s database was (and is) at RISK!

The more that I keep hearing about the lack of integrity surrounding this 2.0 billion dollar program, the more I question it’s purpose!

This excerpt from the OFAH article speaks volumes:

John Hicks, an Orillia-area computer consultant, has never owned a gun. However, during his three-year tenure as the webmaster for the Canadian Firearms Centre, he was shocked to discover that anyone with a home computer could have easily accessed names, addresses and detailed shopping lists (including make, model and serial number) of literally millions of registered guns belonging to millions of unsuspecting licensed firearms owners.” Read the entire article here.

Mr. Harper. Please do either of the following:

  • Scrap the registry
  • Secure the registry before I become a TARGET!

That’s just plain scary, even living in Canada’s neighbor to the south.

The proposal keeps coming up from time to time here in the US, but I think the article you cited is a pretty clear reason why nationalizing the gun registry is a bad idea.
