Someone has the walleye ‘rig’ I need.

walleyelr.jpg I read a notice the other day reminding ice-fisherman to remove their ice huts by the end of March. This means that, despite all of our snow up here, spring is on the way. This is the time of year I start to get restless in anticipation of the annual Triple L fishing trip to the north. I am currently sworn to secrecy as to the location of our adventure, but I would like get an ‘edge’ on the guys by asking our website visitors a question.

The lure of choice for our location is a simple silver spinner and minnow rig. Live bait is the ticket but I would love to break the live-bait mold and throw something at the walleye that would be ‘my little secret’. You could call it a secret weapon.

The lake is long, narrow with many shallow weedy bays and channels. The water is like tea. It is dark and murky. Visibility is restricted to several inches below the surface. The water is cold enough to make any kind of swimming dip last only a few minutes. I have a feeling that something exists that will get me some bragging rights with the boys!

My question is: Does anyone want to share their favorite walleye rig via comments (or email me)? I will give away one $20 Bass Pro gift card via random draw with those who leave me an idea or description of their favorite walleye weapon! Remember we are all in this together…help the brotherhood…
